New England Match Best Victory Run From Tom Brady Era with Triumph Against New York Jets
First-year player TreVeyon Henderson has tallied five scores during the current campaign
The New England Patriots tied their longest winning run since the Tom Brady era as they beat AFC East opponents the New York Jets by 13 points in professional football
First-year standout TreVeyon Henderson led the way with three TDs as the New England squad secured an eight-game winning streak for the first time since iconic QB Brady's last year with the team in 2019
Signal-caller Drake Maye threw for 281 passing yards and a TD, connecting on 25 out of 34 attempts
Victory increases the Patriots advantage at the top of the division as they advanced to a 9-2 record, with the Jets bottom after dropping to two victories and eight defeats
The visitors had gone in front at Gillette Stadium with QB Justin Fields scoring a five-yard touchdown to cap the Jets' initial series
But the home team responded in the second period as Henderson scored two short rushing scores before the running back caught a pass from Maye at the back of the endzone midway through the third period to extend the lead to 21 to 7
"That was a key occasion for him delivering, and it's been fantastic for him to keep getting these reps," the quarterback commented on the rookie. "He aims to be outstanding."
Justin Fields found John Metchie in the latter part of the third quarter to reduce the lead for the visitors but Borregales converted a two field goals in the final period as the home side closed out the triumph
